Sarah Fremder, Literacy & Language Specialist
Hello! I’m Sarah Fremder, and I’m thrilled to be part of the Read Write Grow team. Growing up in Piedmont, California, I’ve always known I wanted to work with children. My passion for education led me to pursue a degree in Early Childhood and Family Studies at the University of Washington. After graduating, I began my career as a preschool teacher in Seattle before returning to the Bay Area.
In East Oakland, I gained experience working in an after-school program and earned my teaching credential and master’s degree in education from Mills College. For the past seven years, I’ve worked at Lighthouse Charter School in East Oakland, where I taught 1st grade for three years and later became the school’s Literacy and Language Specialist.
I am deeply committed to helping all students become confident, capable readers. My goal is to empower children to develop literacy skills that open doors to their dreams and future success. Outside of the classroom, I love cooking, swimming, hiking, skiing, crafting, and spending quality time with my friends, family, and dog.
