Created in Lamorinda for Lamorinda Learners and Beyond
Our Story
Founded on August 24, 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Read Write Grow was born from a personal and professional commitment to supporting children with learning differences and challenges.
Malorie Stuart, the founder, was inspired by her youngest brother, a middle school student falling behind in reading, writing, and organization. Working with him, she discovered that he, like many children in her local district, weren’t being identified as needing additional support. Despite annual involvement in the Reading Lab, descriptions of disengagement, and some growth he wasn’t receiving the targeted intervention he needed until high school—by which point, her family finally obtained a diagnosis and a plan.
This experience fueled Malorie’s passion to help other families facing learning challenges. With her background as a veteran classroom teacher and early literacy teacher with GirlsInc. of Alameda County, she quickly adapted her approach—offering personalized tutoring via Zoom, at libraries, and in homes—to meet the urgent need for specialized, one-on-one support for students with learning differences.
Read Write Grow is dedicated to empowering children with learning difficulties—whether those involve reading, writing, focus, or organizational skills—and helping them reach their full potential with compassion, expertise, and individualized intervention.
Orton-Gillingham
A global approach, tailored to your learner
Read Write Grow serves students from Pre-K through high school, specializing in Orton-Gillingham-based instruction rooted in the Science of Reading. This multisensory approach—which integrates visual, auditory, and kinesthetic techniques—helps students strengthen their reading, writing, and spelling skills in an engaging and interactive way. Designed to support students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, and other learning differences, this method promotes confidence, motivation, and long-term academic growth.
Our team includes experienced educators trained in structured literacy programs rooted in the Orton-Gillingham methods such as:

These science-based interventions are proven to support students with dyslexia, language-based learning disabilities, and executive functioning challenges associated with ADHD.
With flexible options for online intervention and in-person sessions in Lafayette, Monterey, and Carmel, CA, Read Write Grow delivers tailored, prescriptive instruction to meet each student’s unique learning profile.
